Advanced Architecture 3 - World Architects/City Design
This course is very similar to Advanced Architecture 1 - City Design, except that instead of studying American Architects in relation to City Design, we will be studying Architects from around the World in relation to"Bringing World Design Together".
In this course, students study the styles of various world architects in World City Design. Students design the "form" of a different type of building each lesson based on the style of the "World Architect of the Lesson."
The buildings they design will eventually come together to form a mini-city. This course requires a lot of model-building. (Students will choose their modeling materials and may use a CAD program - if they are already familiar with it.)
Requirements for each lesson:
Paper
Sketching
Project
Presentation/Explanation
Peer Comments
The internet or the library will be used for research purposes, similar to the "Introduction to Architecture" Course.
Students must fully complete each lesson before proceeding to the next one. Students will be coached to use Padlet to share their work and ideas with the class. This course offers extensive practice in critical thinking and Presentation Skills.
Emailed reviews and grades provide students the opportunity to grow and excel according to their abilities.
Students should expect to work on the course for 8 - 12 hours per lesson. Usually, 1/2 high school credit is suggested
(based on 90 hours of coursework).
